Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute’s Department of Supportive Oncology is proud to present their Grand Rounds video series available free and on-demand to MASCC members.
The Department of Supportive Oncology Grand Rounds cover new developments in many aspects of supportive cancer care, presented as literature reviews, newly published journal articles and in-depth clinical case studies.
With over 150k clinical encounters annually, the Department of Supportive Oncology consists of 8 clinical sections: Cancer Rehabilitation, Integrative Oncology, Oncology Nutrition, Palliative Medicine, Patient Navigation, Psycho-Oncology, Senior Oncology, Survivorship and 2 academic sections: Research and Education.
The Section of Research focuses on cancer-related fatigue, malnutrition and symptom profiles as strategic research objectives, conducting both a weekly Research Meeting and Research Journal Club.
Education of professionals, patients and caregivers is a major departmental focus to include postgraduate training Fellowships in Psycho-Oncology, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Supportive Oncology and Cancer Rehabilitation.
The Hemby Family Endowed Chair in Supportive Oncology – the first in the USA, was created with Dr. Declan Walsh as the first incumbent. The Department’s excellence has been recognized by MASCC, as well as by the European Society of Medical Oncology and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
