The International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) and MASCC are collaborating on a project focused on the navigation needs of older adults with cancer.
Specific needs of this population may include existing chronic conditions, polypharmacy, functional limitations, potential cognitive changes, and other social support issues, which may not be appropriately addressed in existing frameworks.
At the MASCC/ISOO 2026 Annual Meeting, the Geriatrics Study Group met to discuss the potential skills and competencies that patient navigators should have in order to provide high quality patient navigation for older adults with cancer.
