The Oral Care Study Group has established a continuing webinar series, with 2 tracks – a case report session with pertinent literature review, and a spotlight presentation about a focused topic. These webinars are held periodically, with presentations given by members of the Oral Care Study Group. The webinars are enriched by the discussion of the expert panel composed of members of the Oral Care Study Group as well. These sessions attract a wide audience, and often lead into engaging open discussions.
A variety of topics were addressed in these webinars so far, including “big data – an introduction for beginners”, “spontaneous osteoradionecrosis”, “diagnostic challenges post-hct”, “Erdheim-Chester disease”, “radiological osteonecrosis diagnosis”, “persistent oral ulcerations”, “cancer related pain”, “from abscess to alarm – differential diagnosis”, and “orofacial pain and oncology”.
The most recent session was a joint webinar with the Hemostasis Study Group on February 3, 2025, focused on Oral Bleeding and Hemostasis in Cancer Patients. It was the first occasion in which the webinar was used as a platform for collaboration between MASCC/ISOO study groups based on a shared interest in a clinical topic.
Coming soon is another spotlight presentation on March 21, 2025, about Therapies for Immune-Mediated Oral Toxicities. Notification with a registration link was emailed to the members of the Oral Care Study Group.
The webinar series is organized by Sharon Elad and David Dean, the Chair and Vice-chair of the Oral Care Study Group, with the support of the University of Rochester Medical Center and MASCC/ISOO.
