What is Supportive Care?
Supportive care is the prevention and management of the adverse effects of cancer and its treatment. This includes management of physical and psychological symptoms and side effects across the continuum of the cancer journey from diagnosis through treatment to post-treatment care.At MASCC, We Believe In:
- Person-centered care: putting the individual’s care needs first;
- Working together across disciplines to develop evidence-based clinical practice;
- Professional support, mentorship, and friendship: great careers are built at MASCC;
- Working jointly with patient advocates, other societies, and institutions so that we can achieve more.
Our Story
Founded in 1990, MASCC now includes members in over 70 countries around the world. In 1998, MASCC joined forces with the International Society of Oral Oncology (ISOO), an organization that addresses the management of complications arising in oral tissues secondary to cancer and its treatment. MASCC and ISOO hold a joint Annual Meeting each June where we showcase the latest ideas and research in supportive care.
