Danish Society for Clinical Oncology Meeting 2018

The Danish Society for Clinical Oncology (Dansk Selskab for Klinisk Onkologi, DSKO) held its Annual Meeting April 12 to 14, 2018 in Nyborg, Denmark. The meeting featured a Supportive Care session chaired by Jørn Herrstedt, who provided an introduction to supportive cancer care and a session summary. Among the speakers, MASCC’s Dorothy Keefe addressed the topic of integrating supportive care in routine practice, arguing that supportive care is central to cancer care and, in fact, makes excellent cancer care possible. In a second presentation, Dorothy discussed the side effects of targeted therapy. Every new class of drugs brings new toxicities and understanding the toxicity mechanisms of targeted treatments is vital to the prevention and treatment of side effects. Other session topics included geriatric oncology, cardiotoxicity, cancer and thrombosis, malnutrition in cancer patients, and cannabinoids. MASCC had a booth at the meeting, and Executive Director Melissa Chin was on hand to greet attendees.
