We are deeply saddened to announce that Abigail Johnston has passed away from metastatic breast cancer on October 29, 2026.Â
A member of MASCC since 2024, Abigail was an active and engaged participant in our educational initiatives, providing an invaluable perspective as a patient partner speaker on multiple MASCC webinars. She also contributed to several study groups, including our work on emerging toxicities, palliative care, and survivorship.
Abigail was a passionate and knowledgeable patient advocate, with a deep impact on the metastatic breast cancer (MBC) community. She was a lawyer, wife, and mother of two boys, and had been living with de novo MBC since she was diagnosed at age 38 in 2017. She volunteered with many organizations as well as providing thoughtful and important perspectives on her blog, No Half Measures.Â
Our condolences go to her family, friends, and all who knew and worked with her. She will be deeply missed.Â
