MASCC/ISOO 2025 Annual Meeting Highlights
June 26-28 • Seattle, Washington, USA • #MASCC25
The 2025 MASCC/ISOO Annual Meeting brought together our global community of healthcare professionals, researchers, and advocates for three days of innovation, collaboration, and discovery in supportive cancer care. Set against the backdrop of Seattle, Washington — a city renowned for its natural beauty and forward-thinking spirit — this year’s meeting was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and learn about the latest advances in our field.
With the overarching theme of “Informed Decisions in Supportive Cancer Care,” the meeting explored a range of topics through scientific sessions, interactive discussions, and networking events. This year’s themes were:
- Shared Roles in Managing Chronic Toxicities of Cancer and Its Treatment
- Emerging Toxicities of Emerging Treatments
- Repurposing Old Medications for New Approaches to Supportive Care
- Financial Toxicity: Balancing Risk and Benefit
Our scientific program featured a diverse array of parallel, joint, and supported sessions, as well as many oral rapid e-poster presentations, each offering deep dives into the latest research and clinical advances across the spectrum of supportive care.
The meeting’s three plenary sessions were particularly impactful, drawing attention to three important issues in the field:
- Financial Toxicities: Time for a Change at the Global Level
- Emerging Toxicities of Emerging Treatments
- Repurposing Medications for New Approaches to Supportive Care
These presentations sparked lively discussion and underscored the need for innovative, patient-centered solutions in the era of rapidly evolving cancer treatments.
A highlight of the event was the announcement of the inaugural cohort of MASCC Fellows (FMASCC)—a prestigious distinction recognizing individuals who have made sustained contributions to MASCC and demonstrated continued excellence in supportive cancer care research and practice.
We were also proud to honor the recipients of the 2025 Supportive Care 2030 Movement President Training Fellowship, along with numerous other awardees representing excellence across disciplines and borders.
The Annual Meeting wasn’t just about science—it was also about building relationships and nurturing the next generation of leaders. This year’s program included:
- A FUNdraiser Walk/Run, where attendees took in the sights of Seattle while raising money for the MASCC Foundation to fund scholarships for emerging leaders.
- Our first Student & Young Professional Meetup, creating a space for early-career attendees to connect and engage.
- Our Annual Mentorship Event, which paired students, trainees, and early-career professionals with experienced mentors in their areas of professional interest for impactful 30-minute sessions.
- A warm and welcoming New Members’ Breakfast, helping new MASCC members meet each other and get involved.
- Our annual Presidential Reception, this year with an “English Garden Party” theme. Attendees dressed in style and enjoyed a delightful evening of English cuisine, music, dancing, drinks, and photo opportunities — a perfect celebration of our shared commitment and camaraderie.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Seattle. Special thanks go to Prof. Joanne Bowen, our 2025 Annual Meeting Chair; Agathe Deacon-Erasmus, Senior Events Manager; and the organizing committee for their leadership and dedication.
