Message from MASCC President Florian Scotté

Home > News > Message from MASCC President Florian Scotté

Dear MASCC friends,

Thanks to your support, I am fortunate to assume the presidency of our association for a two-year term, until June 2026, when Alex Chan will take over. The newly elected board is as follows:

  • Florian Scotté (France) President
  • Maryam Lustberg (US) Immediate Past President
  • Alexandre Chan (US) President-Elect
  • Raymond Chan (Australia) Treasurer
  • Andreas Charalambous (Cyprus) Secretary
  • And Melissa Chin as Executive Director

My first message is to thank Maryam Lustberg, for her extraordinary work on MASCC’s involvement in the management of new toxicities and the partnership with patients and their caregivers. My thanks also go to all the Past Presidents.

MASCC is a family where international multidisciplinarity meets inquisitive and friendly scientific expertise. The Annual Meeting in Lille in June 2024 demonstrated the excellence of your research and MASCC’s global leadership in the field of supportive care, patient pathways and quality of care across all phases and stages of the disease.

The objective I would like to share with you for 2026 is to make our association even more visible and essential. This ambition must be achieved through our educational missions (meetings, webinars, publications), research (by supporting the work of various teams through communication and the dissemination of expertise) and care, by promoting our sharing of experience and culture for the benefit of our patients and their families.

To be a force, our association needs to grow and be recognized, and the goal of 5,000 members by 2026 should be a target enabling us to achieve this level of worldwide recognition. This is how supportive care will become known, organized and claimed as essential by our patients in every part of the world.

Each of you is an ambassador for MASCC and must participate in its outreach by communicating about our missions and resources in order to attract (without sounding like Uncle Sam) new recruits.

We’ll keep you regularly informed of the programs we’re rolling out and the progress we’re making, so that you can get involved in these projects.

Get ready now for the 2025 annual meeting in Seattle (USA).

Live MASCC.

With all my gratitude.
Florian Scotté
